M&C is officially live. Today I sent this email to some girls I love:
Hi Friends -
I wanted to share a project I've been working on. It's a collection of vintage shirts that I'm selling online. I’ve just soft launched the online store today - it’s called Moose + Cole , www.mooseandcole.com
Moose + Cole started with a man's button up shirt that I bought at a Florida thrift store (where most of my favorite clothing items come from)! Wearing this "dad" shirt made me feel amazing, confident, and effortless. I bought a few more shirts like it for my own wardrobe, they are now a staple for me! I've been pretty surprised at the response that these shirts get when I wear them. A lot of women have asked me where to get them and their interest started a bit of an obsession. I started collecting more shirts to share with others - and currently I have over 50 of them. With Moose + Cole I've tried to turn this passion into something more constructive and it's lead to a logo, photo shoots with women I admire (as you may recognize some of the models!), and the website. Since this project is literally putting women into men's office attire it just felt natural that selling these shirts should also support women in some way - so I'm donating $10 from every shirt sold to Dress For Success an international nonprofit with the mission to empower women to achieve economic independence.
I'm still sorting a lot of things out and you're my very first audience. I've started with only 11 shirts in the store (walking before I run here). It's really important to me that you all know that this email is more about me sharing what I am doing, but it's not a tupperware party or anything. All the shirts are available for sale now - so please purchase if you are inclined, but please do not feel ANY pressure to buy them - I love this style, but hey it's not for everyone.
As my first audience, I would truly love your feedback and ideas. For example: If you have a friend you think would be into this, please tell them! A blog you think I should reach out to, please tell me! Catch a spelling error, please tell me (you all know I am the worst)! If you're interested to model, I would love to have you! Just let me know, I am here and I am open to anything.
Hopefully you'll enjoy the site and project - I appreciate you taking some time to look.
Happy (belated) Independence Day, Ladies!
Much love,
Cole
